Four months to the day since Venture was first released in Overwatch 2, the DPS hero still does not have any additional skins. And it seems like the wait for new ones will continue into the foreseeable future.
Despite releasing on April 16 in OW2’s season 10: Venture Forth, the drill-wielding damage-dealer only has four alternate skins of the Rare variety, which are just palette swaps of their regular, base skin.
The uproar about Venture’s lack of cosmetics continued this week once season 12 was revealed and no Venture skins were found yet again. So game director Aaron Keller was forced to address the discussion on Twitter/X today—and the answer likely won’t sate many.
“We’ve seen a lot of talk about skins for Venture, and we also want them to have their own set of amazing skins,” Keller said. “I can’t share too much, but we have a really exciting skin coming out for them in S14. We think it’s something you’re really going to dig!”
Ignoring the pun at the end, the lack of a Venture skin for potentially another four months is quite a long time. With seasons lasting around two months, that means season 14 likely won’t begin until December and also feature the Winter Wonderland event.
While he didn’t specify, Keller mentioning season 14 specifically leaves everyone to wonder if that also means no other skins are coming in season 13 or as part of additional updates in season 12. That will mean eight full months without skins for the hero.
The lack of any new Venture skins feels especially egregious when it seems like certain heroes get new skins constantly, with the community calling out Mercy, Kiriko, and Genji to name a few. Meanwhile, Venture mains are left to dig around in the dirt for their own enjoyment from seasonal content drops.
