How to get a Sentinel Interceptor ship in No Man’s Sky

Take back technology.

The most important piece of technology you can own and upgrade in No Man’s Sky is your spaceship, because it lets you navigate the stars. Each ship has a unique style, with each placed in subclasses like fighters or explorers.

One such subclass is Sentinel Interceptors; robotic ships that attack you when you commit crimes in space. These ships have a harsh appearance, but they can be owned by the player—if you’re lucky enough to find them.

Here’s how to get your own Sentinel Interceptor in No Man’s Sky.

How to find a crashed Sentinel Interceptor

The easiest way to find a Sentinel Interceptor is to search for a crashed ship, since Sentinel Interceptors do not fly into Space Stations. Crashed Sentinel Interceptors only spawn in Dissonant Systems—a modifier that can be seen from the galaxy map.

Once you’re inside a Dissonant System, scan the planets with the C key and look for the purple Corrupted Sentinels tag. Land on the planet, and complete these steps:

  1. Begin to fight Corrupted Sentinels. Eventually, you’ll face the final wave of these robots, and one will drop an Echo Locator.
  2. Use the Echo Locator to immediately reveal the location of a Harmonic Camp.
  3. Fly to the area and use the camp’s terminal to locate a crashed Sentinel Interceptor. You’ll have to select the “Locate Dissonant Spikes” option.

Alternatively, you could always stay in space and fight Sentinel spacecraft. After you reach the final wave of Sentinel spaceships, a massive Sentinel Dreadnaught will spawn. Defeating this warship will earn you an Echo Locator, similar to the aforementioned steps. We don’t suggest fighting the Sentinel Dreadnaught though, because that particular boss fight is incredibly difficult and quite time-consuming.

How to repair a Sentinel Interceptor

Once you’ve found a crashed Sentinel Interceptor, you’ll have to repair it before it can fly. Every Sentinel Interceptor requires the same three materials to repair, making it a lot easier than other spacecraft.

Here are the materials you will need to repair a Sentinel Interceptor:

  • Three Radiant Shards
  • Inverted Mirror
  • Harmonic Brain

Radiant Shards are the easiest to collect since they’re found in the large purple crystals scattered across all Corrupted Sentinel planets. Inverted Mirrors are dropped from destroying Dissonance Resonators, or the large corrupted machines that walk around on all fours on the same planets as Radiant Shards. Both can be found via the Analysis Visor, which is activated by holding the F key.

Finding a Harmonic Brain requires more effort, but nothing too difficult. Whenever you find a crashed Sentinel Interceptor, the destroyed ship will contain a Hyaline Brain. Use the Hyaline Brain to mark a nearby Monolith on your map. At the Monolith, turn the Hyaline Brain into a Harmonic Brain; the final component needed to repair the crashed ship.

As a bonus, there are no broken pieces of technology within a crashed Sentinel Interceptor. Once you have provided these three materials, the ship is ready for spaceflight.

How to use player coordinates

Since you can’t craft a Sentinel Interceptor in a Space Station, you’ll have no control over the visual appearance of the crashed ships. In NMS, the appearance of crashed ships changes depending on planets, meaning every crashed Sentinel Interceptor you find on one planet will look similar.

This means lategame players can use the No Man’s Sky Coordinate Exchange on Reddit to find planets that contain visually appealing crashed Interceptors. On this subreddit, players post coordinates to locations throughout the universe that contain interesting loot, paradise planets, or useful materials.

By entering a string of coordinates into a Portal, you can teleport to these locations and repeat the steps to find specific crashed Interceptors. Remember, you’ll have to finish the main storyline to gain access to Portals and their respective coordinates.
