How to get to Khaz Algar in WoW The War Within

Khaz Algar is the new World of Warcraft region only accessible to those who are playing The War Within expansion. Like all new areas added in Blizzard’s MMO, there are a few tricky steps you need to take to get there for the first time.

Here’s how to find and unlock Khaz Algar in The War Within expansion.

How to get to Khaz Algar in WoW The War Within

You’ll first arrive in Khaz Algar in The War Within simply by following the campaign. The first quest you will receive for the War Within campaign is “Slept like a Rock,” which tasks you with returning to Dalaran. From here, you’ll complete a series of quests that task you with saving the citizens and defeating spiders. Eventually, you’ll complete the “Departure” quest, which ends with you taking the portal to Khaz Algar.

I’ve included a full list of quests and the key objectives you’ll need to complete for each The War Within quest to get to Khaz Algar below.

1) Slept Like a Rock

• Objective: You must return to Dalaran.
• How to complete: Simply follow the quest marker to a portal in your faction city, and it will take you there.

As I’m playing Alliance, there was a portal in the Trade District with a quest marker I had to take. There’ll be something similar in Orgrimmar for those playing Horde.

2) A Mysterious Warning (Quest giver: Magni)

• Objective: Speak with Khadgar.
• How to complete: Speak to Khadgar—he’s in the same room as Magni.

3) Citizens of Dalaran (Quest giver: Khadgar)

• Objective: Help the citizens prepare for teleportation.
• How to complete: Follow the quest markers and help the three citizens.

4) Meet the Team (Quest giver: Bran)

• Objective: Check-in on the Algari expedition members.
• How to complete: Follow the marker and speak to the expedition member near the mail box.

5) Strengthening the Wards (Quest giver: Drenden)

• Objective: Strengthen Dalaran’s defenses.
• How to complete: Use the device given to you by Drenden on the four bubbles to strengthen the wards.

6) To Khaz Algar! (Quest giver: Khadgar)

• Objective: Tell Khadgar you’re ready to leave.
• How to complete: Choose the “quest” dialogue option when you speak to him.

7) Breach (Quest giver: Alleria)

• Objective: Send civilians to the landing for safety.
• How to complete: Rescue 10 civilians and fill up the “Nerubians slain” progress bar.

8) Rupture (Quest giver: Alleria)

• Objective: Save Dalaran.
• How to complete: This quest has many parties. But it can essentially be broken down into returning to the city via the stairs, entering the sewers, rescuing five webbed citizens, and then entering the sewer gate.

9) Departure (Quest giver: Anduin)

• Objective: Return to the surface and find Khadgar.
• How to complete: When you return to the surface, you’ll need to slay the Queensguard An’Jak Shabtir and speak to Khadgar, who’s near the fountain. He’ll open a portal to Khaz Algar for you. Interacting with it completes the quest.

10) Violent Impact

• Objective: Escape the rubble.
• How to complete: When you land in Khaz Algar on the Isle of Dorn, you need to rescue yourself from a pile of rubble and then speak to Jaina.

Once you’ve completed all 10 The War Within quests, you’ll officially be in Khaz Algar. However, you have to complete a few more quests to save your allies and get to Dornogal before you can truly start exploring all that Khaz Algar has to offer in The War Within, including other zones like The Ringing Deeps, Hallowfall, and Azj-Kahet and unlocking the Flight paths and your faction portals to get to and from Dornogal.
