Khaz Algar is the latest region you’ll explore after completing the World of Warcraft The War Within campaign and diving into endgame activities, and its crown jewel is Dornogal.
Getting to the capital city for the first time (or even just learning how to get there after discovering the city) is crucial for all your expansion adventures—so, here’s how to find Dornogal in WoW: The War Within and unlock the capital city.
What is the capital city of Khaz Algar?
Dornogal is the capital city in Khaz Algar, the new region added to WoW in The War Within, and it’s located on the Isle of Dorn. Dornogal is home to the Earthen race, the latest race you can unlock in WoW. It also serves as the hub for your time in this region. So, don’t forget to make Dornogal your home via the Innkeeper.
How to get to the capital city, Dornogal
When you arrive in Khaz Algar for the first time in the War Within campaign, you’ll receive the quest, Violent Impact. This mission tasks you with escaping a pile of rubble and talk to Lady Jaina Proudmoore. From here, continue with the campaign, which will lead you to the capital city, Dornogal. After reaching Dornogal, save the city from spiders, help remove rubble, and meet key figures within the city in the quest, Stones of Dornogal.
Once you finish this, you’ll unlock the Dornogal Flight path. If you continue into Dornogal’s Foundation Hall, you’ll see the portal back to your faction’s capital city. This would be Stormwind for the Alliance and Orgrimmar for the Horde.
As I’m playing an Alliance character, my portal was located on the right side of the Hall in the capital city, as you can see below.
There’s a portal on the left side of the Hall with an image of Orgrimmar; I can’t test for obvious reasons, but this appears to be the portal to Orgrimmar for Horde players.
Dornogal Portal locations in Stormwind and Orgrimmar
To get to Dornogal, simply take the portal labeled “Dornogal” from within your faction’s Portal Room. In Stormwind, your portal room is within the Wizard’s Sanctum in the Mage Quarters, and the portal to Dornogal is up the stairs.
In Orgrimmar, your portal room is in the Pathfinder’s Den (which is inside the main city gate), and the portal to Dornogal is in the lower room to the left.
It does take a bit of time to get to Dornogal, complete the city quests, and enter the Foundation Hall, but once you do, you can portal to and from Dornogal with ease.
